The house

Imaginary Authors was founded in 2012 in Portland, Oregon (United States) by Josh Meyer. The house concept frames each fragrance as the fictional perfume from an invented book: compositions are paired with invented authors, titles and storylines, presented with original cover art that makes each release a small narrative object as much as a scent.

Josh Meyer is the sole perfumer of the house, composing all releases in his Portland studio. The olfactive direction tends toward outdoors-influenced, Pacific Northwest-inspired constructions: pine, forest, rain, cold air and amber materials recur across the catalogue, alongside more figurative accords drawn from the invented story world of each release.

On Osmetheca, Imaginary Authors is represented by one fragrance: Memoirs of a Trespasser (2012), signed by Josh Meyer. This composition opens with a resinous pine and blackcurrant accord, developing into an earthy amber base that evokes forest after rain. The house page for Imaginary Authors is not yet published on Osmetheca.
