Perfumes by Jean Patou

The house

Jean Patou was founded in 1914 in Paris (France) by the couturier Jean Patou. The house gained its place in perfumery history with Joy (1930), composed by Henri Alméras, which became known as one of the most expensive and celebrated florals of its era. Jean Patou built a reputation for using exceptional raw materials in high concentration, positioning the house at the upper end of classical French perfumery.

The house was acquired by Designer Parfums in 2011 and the Joy trademark was subsequently sold to LVMH in 2019. The original Joy formula, however, remains a reference point for students of classical perfumery and continues to circulate in collector circles and specialized retailers.

On Osmetheca, Jean Patou is represented by one fragrance: Joy (1930), composed by Henri Alméras, an abundant rose and jasmine floral that stands as one of the defining French florals of the twentieth century.
