François Coty (1874-1934) was a French perfumer and industrialist born in Corsica. He founded the house of Coty in Paris in 1904 and signed L'Origan in 1905, Chypre in 1917, Emeraude in 1921 and Paris in 1925, laying the industrial foundations of modern perfumery.
