Quick answers
History of the house
BDK Parfums was founded in Paris in 2016 by David Benedek, who leads its creative work. The house describes itself as independent and is based in the Palais-Royal district.
From the start, BDK worked with the fragrance house Mane. By late 2024, Nez counted nine creations from that partnership, in an article published in partnership with Mane. The earliest fragrance it dates is Bouquet de Hongrie (2016), by Serge Majoullier.
The house sets out its method plainly: each fragrance begins with one raw material, which becomes the starting point. Concentrates are made in the Grasse region. The bottle comes from Normandy; the cap, modelled on the Grand Palais dome, from a silversmith near Paris.
Gris Charnel, composed by Mathilde Bijaoui of Mane and launched in 2019, became the house signature. Its extrait, created three years later, won The Fragrance Foundation’s Perfume Extraordinaire of the Year award in 2023 (United States).
BDK opened its first boutique on rue Saint-Honoré in Paris in January 2024. In late November 2025, LVMH Luxury Ventures took a minority stake for an undisclosed sum. The deal is meant to fund international growth, new boutiques and a wider range.
At the time, Premium Beauty News counted 23 unisex fragrances and a presence in about 45 countries, with a second boutique planned in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) for 2026. The house website still calls BDK independent.
The collections
BDK Parfums organizes its catalog into named collections, shown side by side on its website.
Signatures
The house showcase gathers its best-known fragrances, including Gris Charnel, Rouge Smoking, Pas Ce Soir, Bouquet de Hongrie, Crème de Cuir, Tubéreuse Impériale and Impadia.
Collection Parisienne
Nez describes it as the collection with the most urban feel. Mathilde Bijaoui places Gris Charnel in it, conceived as a black-and-white photograph of Paris.
Collection Matières, Collection Studio and Collection Azur
Collection Matières puts one raw material center stage; Velvet Tonka Extrait is its first extrait. Collection Studio gathers recent releases such as Oud Paradisio, Silver Ceremony and Stellar Silk. Collection Azur, a Mediterranean tribute, adds freshness as a counterpoint.
Exclusive
Nez also mentions an Exclusive range created for Harrods in London (United Kingdom), one of the first major department stores to stock BDK. It pairs two ingredients or two facets.
Notable perfumes
Years and perfumers come from Nez (2024) unless stated otherwise. The house itself credits some perfumers on its product pages.

Olfactory signature
BDK’s signature is generous and sensual, which Nez contrasts with the lighter freshness of Collection Azur. The stated starting point is always one raw material, worked until it takes on a personality.
Gris Charnel is the key. Mathilde Bijaoui told Nez she started from tonka bean, “dark as well as creamy”, dressed with iris, milky sandalwood and black tea extract, with fig and cardamom on top.
A Parisian olfactory library: one raw material behind each fragrance, and manufacturing kept entirely in France.
