The house
Acqua di Parma was founded in 1916 in Parma (Italy). The house built its reputation around a single foundational composition, Colonia, an eau de Cologne of rare clarity that drew on bergamot, citrus and vetiver to produce a fresh, transparent and long-lasting signature. For several decades the house operated as a single-fragrance atelier, distributing Colonia through a small network of Italian luxury establishments and hotel boutiques.
The catalogue expanded during the 1990s and 2000s with line extensions and new fragrance families, but Colonia remained the gravitational center of the creative output. The house is now part of the LVMH group, which acquired it in 2001. Despite this corporate integration, Acqua di Parma has maintained its Italian manufacturing roots, its artisanal aesthetic and the direct reference to Parma as the origin point of its identity.
