The house
Atelier Cologne was founded in 2009 in Paris (France) by Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel. The house positioned itself around a proprietary format, the Cologne Absolue: an ultra-concentrated interpretation of the citrus Cologne structure, designed to project the freshness and clarity of Eau de Cologne with the tenacity and depth of an Eau de Parfum. This hybrid concentration format was central to the original brand identity.
The house was acquired by L'Oreal in 2016. Since then the catalogue has expanded considerably, broadening beyond the founding citrus focus into woody, floral and resinous territories. Perfumers contributing to the catalogue include Calice Becker and Jerome Epinette, among others, with each composition named to evoke a specific place, memory or atmospheric setting.
