The house
Frederic Malle Editions de Parfums was founded in 2000 in Paris (France) by Frederic Malle, the grandson of Serge Heftler-Louiche, former director of Parfums Christian Dior. Malle built the house on an explicit premise: commission established independent perfumers to compose without brief constraints or commercial compromise, and publish their work under their own names rather than under a brand identity.
The house model placed the perfumer as the primary author of each fragrance, with Malle's role defined as editor rather than creative director. The founding roster included Pierre Bourdon, Maurice Roucel, Jean-Claude Ellena and Dominique Ropion. Editions de Parfums was acquired by Estee Lauder Companies in 2015.
On Osmetheca, Frederic Malle is represented by five fragrances: Iris Poudre (2000) by Pierre Bourdon, Musc Ravageur (2000) by Maurice Roucel, Bigarade Concentree (2001) by Jean-Claude Ellena, Carnal Flower (2005) by Dominique Ropion, and Portrait of a Lady (2010) by Dominique Ropion.
