History

Another 13 began in 2010 as a commission from AnOther Magazine, which wanted an exclusive scent from Le Labo. The project came about through Sarah of the Paris boutique Colette. She introduced Le Labo to Jefferson Hack, the magazine’s editor-in-chief.

It started life as a limited edition. In November 2010 Perfume Shrine reported 500 numbered bottles worldwide. They were sold in Le Labo stores and at a few partners: Liberty in London (United Kingdom), Isetan in Tokyo (Japan), Barneys in the United States and Colette in Paris (France).

Specialist press credits the composition to Nathalie Lorson, Perfume Shrine among them at launch. Le Labo does not name the perfumer on its page.

Colette closed in December 2017. Le Labo says it then moved Another 13 into its Classic Collection, sold in its stores worldwide.

Fragrance notes

Le Labo publishes no fragrance pyramid for Another 13. The table separates the materials named by the house from those listed by Perfume Shrine in 2010.

Scent profile

Another 13’s scent profile comes down to one material. Ambroxide dominates: ambery, woody, dry and faintly animalic. Le Labo says jasmine and moss give it “spike and shine”.

In 2010 Elena Vosnaki of Perfume Shrine read it as a monochromatic take on Ambrox and three synthetic musks, woodier and more metallic than a classic musk.
