History

In the SuperFluo? collection, Filippo Sorcinelli's most intimate, Lentezza Carezza holds the summer slope. The perfume is born of a poem by the perfumer, an invocation of slowness: “I would like to get dirty with slowness, precious useless angel, slow sun fire, where the water rests with me and caresses the song of the skin.”

Its subject is an almost philosophical question: what does “there is no hurry” mean today? In the obsession with speed, we paradoxically lose the sense of time. Hence the desire to stop, to recognize and build the solitude of a sunlit afternoon. Slowness then becomes a necessary caress, almost like boredom, to sink into the limits of silence and keep listening to life.

Sorcinelli quotes Sepúlveda: remaining still becomes “a new form of resistance, in a world where everything is too fast, and where the greatest power is to decide what to do with one's own time.” Lentezza Carezza is a summer smell where loving oneself becomes a way of turning toward others with new eyes.

Sorcinelli states it as a harmonic evolution. The subject lays an amber, woody softness through vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, benzoin and musks. The counter-subject brightens it with jasmine, cyclamen, cedar and green notes. The tail brings the noon light: myrrh, prickly pear, bergamot and orange, like an afternoon that stings the solitude.

Fragrance notes

Filippo Sorcinelli is an organist; he does not conceive his perfumes as a pyramid of volatility but as a score. Lentezza Carezza is therefore stated in three movements, subject, counter-subject and tail.

Subject
Vanillawarm sweetness
Tonka beangourmand amber
Sandalwoodmilky wood
Benzoinvanillic balm
Musksenveloping base
Counter-subject
Jasminewarm floral
Cyclamengreen floral
Cedardry wood
Green notesvegetal freshness
Tail
Myrrhbitter resin
Prickly pearsolar fruit
Bergamotbright citrus
Orangesweet citrus

The through-line is the summer afternoon: vanilla and sandalwood hold the soft warmth, jasmine and green notes air it out, and the tail of prickly pear and citrus lets the noon light in.

Scent profile

Lentezza Carezza's subject is a solar, woody softness: vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood compose a skin warmth that benzoin rounds. This is a summer amber, mild rather than heavy, made for the slowness of an afternoon.

The heart brings air and green: jasmine warms, cyclamen opens a fresh green floral, cedar and green notes draw a vegetal line. This layer keeps the amber from weighing and gives it its summer breath.

The tail is the real surprise: prickly pear brings a fleshy, solar fruit, bergamot and orange a citrus light, while a stroke of myrrh anchors the whole. Longevity is that of an extrait, yet the spirit stays light; the sillage is soft, a caress more than a presence.

“Slowness becomes a necessary caress, to sink into the limits of silence and keep listening to life.”Filippo Sorcinelli, official note for Lentezza Carezza

Frequently asked questions

Who created Lentezza Carezza?01
Filippo Sorcinelli, organist and maker of liturgical vestments, sole author of his house's compositions.
What is Lentezza Carezza about?02
About slowness as a caress and a form of resistance: a smell of sunlit afternoon, born of a poem by the perfumer and a quote from Sepúlveda.
Is Lentezza Carezza a summer perfume?03
Yes: it is a summer smell, carried by its tail of prickly pear and citrus.
What are the notes in Lentezza Carezza?04
To the woody family, amber woody sub-family: vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, benzoin and musks in the subject; jasmine, cyclamen, cedar and green notes in the counter-subject; myrrh, prickly pear, bergamot and orange in the tail.
Why harmonic evolution rather than a pyramid?05
Because Filippo Sorcinelli is an organist and composes his perfumes like scores. Each of the house's fragrances is set out as a harmonic evolution in three movements: the subject, which is the theme, the counter-subject, which answers and qualifies it, and the tail, which closes. The three words come from fugue writing and name roles in the composition, not durations, so they do not necessarily match the top, heart and base of a pyramid.
Is Lentezza Carezza unisex?06
Yes, it is a unisex extrait de parfum.
When should you wear Lentezza Carezza?07
Rather in spring and summer, in daytime or a mild evening; it is one of the few amber extraits truly wearable in warm weather.
