History
extrait de musique is the collection Filippo Sorcinelli devotes to organ music. An initial formulation had translated the stops of the great organ of Notre-Dame Cathedral into olfactory matter; in 2026, presented at the Esxence show in Milan, the collection is reborn in seven new fragrances. Each chapter fixes a moment that the organ transforms, and that a perfume can hold.
ORGAN #5 is its fifth movement, and the most intimate. As a child, Filippo sat at the keyboards while his mother washed the church carpets. Saturday afternoons had a particular light, lower and golden, able to stretch the shadows along the nave and make the stone appear softer to the eye. The church was empty; only the sound of running water could be heard, the steady movement of working hands, and the scent of freshly laundered fabric spreading through the still-warm air.
Seated before the keyboards, the child sensed that the sound of the organ transformed the space. The notes rose slowly, passing through the air scented with soap, settling upon the carpets laid out to dry, some hanging over the railings just outside the main door. Sound and fragrance brushed the columns and returned with a gentler resonance. The church took on a character both domestic and solemn.
From that experience, Sorcinelli drew a conviction: material care and the pursuit of beauty belong to the same horizon. The vibration of the music mingled with the smell of cleanliness and turned humble labor into a silent ritual. Like the six other chapters, ORGAN #5 is sealed with a melted vinyl stopper, an echo of the 33 rpm records of his childhood.
Harmonic evolution
Filippo Sorcinelli is an organist; he does not conceive his perfumes as a pyramid of volatility but as a score. ORGAN #5 is therefore stated in three movements, subject, counter-subject and tail, as the house publishes them.
Ivory, cistus and black amber lay down a soft, resinous matter, the golden Saturday light transposed into an accord. Gurjun and cypriol add a woody balsam and an earthy root, the smell of the stone and the wood of the organ. Cypress, clove and geranium close the perfume on a green freshness and a spiced touch, the clean laundry spread in the nave.
Olfactory profile
ORGAN #5 is a resinous woody of great softness. From the opening, cistus and black amber set a deep, labdanum warmth that the ivory accord makes creamy and enveloping. It is a perfume of memory, low and golden like the light of the story, with no showy lift-off.
The counter-subject gives the perfume its texture. Gurjun, a woody balsam, and cypriol, an earthy root, bring a resinous depth and a reminder of the stone and the wood of the instrument. You sense the empty nave, the running water, the smell of humble labor rising toward the vaults.
The tail brings the freshness of cleanliness. Cypress unfurls a green conifer, clove a warm spice and geranium a green floral, like freshly washed laundry laid out to dry. Longevity is that of an extrait, long and enveloping; the sillage, resinous and soft, leaves an intimate trace, in keeping with a childhood memory turned ritual.

Key characteristics
When and where to wear
ORGAN #5 is a woody for cool seasons and quiet time. Its resinous warmth blooms in autumn and winter, in daylight as much as evening, in moments of recollection. Its enveloping softness also lets it hold the shoulder seasons; in high summer, the black amber and cistus are best dosed with measure.
