History and inspiration
Qi Intensivo is composed for Ormonde Jayne, the independent British house founded in 2001 in London (United Kingdom) by Linda Pilkington, whose perfumes are handmade in England. It belongs to the Four Corners of the Earth collection, and Intensivo is the maximum strength edition of the perfume.
Qi, pronounced key or chi, means Breath of Life, an ancient word that runs through the Chinese language and everyday life. The perfume is inspired by the Chinese love for the lightest and most delicate scents. By design it makes no great statement and so offends no-one. It is something more spectacular than a bold gesture, like an amazing dawn or a softly scented, fragile breeze. Qi is honest, open and natural, and it makes its mark for those who do not want to be too obvious but who may feel unfinished without it.
The opening is fresh and green, with green lemon blossom, neroli and freesia. The heart turns to tea notes and osmanthus absolute, with violet, hedione and rose adding a soft, powdery floral warmth. The base is built on mate, benzoin, musk, moss and myrrh. The remarkable feature is that the tea notes anchor the osmanthus and give this light composition a surprisingly lasting trail.
