History and inspiration
Sakura is part of the recent Eau de Parfum additions to the Ormonde Jayne range, released in 2022. It is an homage to the cherry blossom, the sakura whose brief flowering marks spring in Japan, a flower famous for being almost without fragrance and so evoked here by suggestion rather than reconstruction.
It opens on a fresh green and citrus accord of green notes, pink pepper, bergamot, lime, mandarin and coriander seed, then turns to a delicate heart of cherry blossom, water lily, osmanthus, rose, freesia, cyclamen and violet. The base stays soft and clean with sandalwood, Madagascar vanilla, musk, amber, cedar and tonka bean.

The signature of Sakura is its transparency. Rather than a sweet cherry gourmand, it reads as a fresh, watery floral, the green notes and citrus giving lift, the osmanthus adding an apricot-and-leather nuance, and the soft base keeping everything light.
On skin it stays close and delicate, a discreet floral that fades gently. The tonka and sandalwood add just enough warmth to the drydown to keep it from disappearing entirely.
