The 2021 DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences merger
On 1 February 2021, IFF completed the merger of its business with DuPont's Nutrition & Biosciences division. The transaction was structured as a reverse Morris Trust deal valued at approximately 26.2 billion USD, with DuPont shareholders receiving 55 percent of the combined company and existing IFF shareholders retaining 45 percent. The molecule entered the public domain after patent expiry and is now produced by multiple suppliers, but its origin within IFF's research program remains a reference point in the captive molecule history.
