Story of the house

L’Entropiste was founded in 2025 in Paris, out of a meeting between two complementary profiles. Denis Bellaïche, a former luxury and beauty executive who has led several international brands, serves as general director. Kris Fang, an entrepreneur with a passion for perfume and creation, conceived the concept and the creative direction, then handed the perfumer the freedom to define the house signature.

That perfumer is Bertrand Duchaufour, a tutelary figure of contemporary perfumery, celebrated for his incense compositions and narrative writing at L’Artisan Parfumeur, Amouage and Comme des Garçons. Named olfactory creative director, he was given free rein and signs the entire catalogue. This setup, a young house built around a single major olfactory author, places L’Entropiste squarely in the tradition of author-driven houses.

The house keeps a Paris boutique at 59 rue des Francs-Bourgeois, in the heart of the Marais, and distributes internationally, notably through the house of Jovoy. Alongside the perfumes, it offers a line of scented candles.

Recognition came quickly: by 2026, one year after its launch, L’Entropiste was honored by the Fragrance Foundation France for Dorian’s Spleen, establishing the house among the independent revelations of niche perfumery.

Philosophy

The name of the house is a manifesto. In thermodynamics, entropy names the tendency of a system to move from order to disorder. L’Entropiste turns it into an olfactory grammar: here disorder is a starting point rather than an end, and the aim of composition is to draw a new harmony out of imbalance.

In practice, this means deliberately introducing tension between materials, favoring unexpected contrasts over a smooth accord, and letting the fragrance recompose itself on the skin. The house presents itself as a tribute to entropy, orchestrated by a master of disorder.

Deliberately introduce imbalance to set a dynamic in motion: at L’Entropiste, harmony emerges from unexpected contrasts and an assumed tension between the forces of the materials.L’Entropiste

Distinctions

In 2026, one year after its launch, L’Entropiste received the Best Niche Perfume award from the Fragrance Foundation France (FFFAR), in the Independent Brands, Rising Stars category, for Dorian’s Spleen. The fragrance was selected through a blind evaluation by a jury of twenty-four experts and journalists, from among one hundred twenty-two entries.

Dorian’s Spleen, composed by Bertrand Duchaufour, draws on Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. Per the house, it opens on an accord of whisky wrapped in dark chocolate, coffee and caramel, before revealing darker facets of smoke, tobacco and ash.
