Life and career

Marc-Antoine Barrois was born in 1983 in Roubaix (France), in the north of the country. Drawn early to cut and cloth, he presented his first collections in Lille. In 2004, at twenty, he was spotted by the couturier Dominique Sirop, who invited him to join his Paris atelier. There he absorbed the discipline of bespoke tailoring and the culture of haute couture.

In 2009, driven by a need for independence, he founded his own couture house in Paris. He dressed a male clientele looking for precisely cut pieces. That discipline of the right gesture, the chosen fabric and the silhouette would later feed his vision of perfume.

The decisive encounter came in 2015, with the perfumer Quentin Bisch. From their understanding came B683 in 2016, the first fragrance of the house. Barrois approached perfume as another way of dressing, no longer the body but the skin.

Creative direction

Barrois's direction rests on a rare loyalty: since the first fragrance, every composition has been entrusted to a single nose, Quentin Bisch. Where most houses multiply perfumers, this lasting duo gives the house a recognizable voice from one fragrance to the next.

A couturier by training, Barrois carries bespoke principles into perfume: few references, each long worked, with no endless collection logic. The compositions favor leather, mineral notes and solar materials, in a style at once contemporary and inhabited. The perfume is treated as a couture piece, cut to last.

To dress the skin rather than the body, entrusting every fragrance to the same nose, the way a bespoke piece is sewn.

The house

The Marc-Antoine Barrois house is an independent French house, born of couture in 2009 and opened to perfume in 2016. It remains led by its founder, who signs its visual world as much as its olfactive one.

The perfume catalog is built slowly, around a few strong references signed by Quentin Bisch: B683, Ganymede, Encelade and Tilia. That restraint, inherited from bespoke tailoring, sets the house apart in an often prolific niche landscape. The house has since opened a boutique in Paris (France), extending its couture roots.
