History
Ambra, amber in Esperanto, meets a challenge the brochure states plainly: taking on a fragrance family as familiar as amber. The risk is to fall into the already-seen; Vanina Muracciole instead chooses a very Jeroboam reading, modern, audacious and sensual.
The amber here is resinous, carried by Peru balsam and incense, but the structure leans woody. The vetiver and patchouli of the base, the bergamot, geranium and incense of the top, pull the composition far from the usual candied amber. Vanilla and tonka round it, the enigmatic musks base envelops it.
Launched in 2017 with Vespero, Ambra is among the perfumes that assert the house's maturity. It shows that Jeroboam can revisit the great classics, here amber, as Oriento did for rose-oud, without ever giving up its musky writing.
