Ambra

Taking on a family as familiar as amber is a serious challenge. That was without reckoning on Vanina Muracciole's originality, who wanted her Ambra very Jeroboam: modern, audacious and sensual, amber by name but woody and musky in structure.

History

Ambra, amber in Esperanto, meets a challenge: taking on a fragrance family as familiar as amber. The risk is to fall into the already-seen; Vanina Muracciole instead chooses a very Jeroboam reading, modern, audacious and sensual.

The amber here is resinous, carried by Peru balsam and incense, but the structure leans woody. The vetiver of the base, the patchouli of the heart, the bergamot, geranium and incense of the top, pull the composition far from the usual candied amber. Vanilla and tonka round it, the enigmatic musks base envelops it.

Launched in 2017 with Vespero, Ambra is among the perfumes that assert the house's maturity. It shows that Jeroboam can revisit the great classics, here amber, as Oriento did for rose-oud, without ever giving up its musky writing.

Scent profile

Ambra opens on a clear resin: bergamot and geranium light up an incense that sets, from the start, the perfume's sacred dimension. This is not a heavy amber but a breathing one.

The heart brings warmth: Peru balsam gives its balsamic, honeyed side, patchouli its earth. This is the layer that lays down the amber, but an amber held by woods rather than by sugar.

The base marries smoky vetiver, vanilla-tonka and the enigmatic musks: the whole turns sensual and woody at once. Wear is long, the trail warm and enveloping. A woody oriental for the cold season, unisex, to wear in the evening or on a cool day.
