History

Bois Naufragé was born in 2010 and returned in 2017 as 16.1, in an identical formulation. The perfume starts from a work, Lucien Clergue’s photograph « Nu au bois flotté », and translates its atmosphere: a body and a piece of wood polished by the sea, on a mineral, salt-beaten beach.

The construction is limpid. The Egyptian fig tree gives its green fig and milky sap; salt flower and ambergris draw its mineral, saline shade; mint brings a sea-spray freshness, fractioned vetiver and driftwood close the base on a woody dryness. It is a fougère, but a seaside fougère, salty and luminous.

The name states the image: an Egyptian fig tree treated like driftwood, as if washed ashore after the shipwreck. Bois Naufragé illustrates Pierre Guillaume’s taste for narrative perfumes, where a whole scene fits within an accord.

Olfactory profile

Bois Naufragé is a mineral fig rather than a gourmand one. Salt flower and ambergris give it a saline, airy dimension, the fig tree its milky freshness, mint its hint of sea spray. Fractioned vetiver and driftwood hold a dry base, never sweet.

It is a luminous, wearable scent, at ease from the first warm days, whose salty freshness evokes a beach. Its woody dryness sets it apart from the solar, sugary figs of mainstream perfumery.
