History

The À la rose collection opened in 2014 with a feminine tribute to the queen of flowers. In 2020, Francis Kurkdjian offered its counterpoint: l'Homme À la rose, a free interpretation of the rose in a masculine key. For the perfumer, the rose has no gender; the point is to reveal its fresh, radiant face rather than its powdery softness.

The construction is deliberately vertical. Grapefruit and the green notes of the Damascena rose pull the flower toward bite and sap, away from the romantic bouquet. Clary sage extends this clear aromatic, while the Centifolia rose keeps a floral roundness at the heart.

It is the ambery woody base that signs the masculine: dry and warm, it anchors the rose and gives it staying power. l'Homme À la rose thus completes the collection, between the eau de parfum À la rose and the fruity freshness of l'eau À la rose. After a spell out of stock, it remains in the house's catalog.

From green grapefruit to ambery woods, l'Homme À la rose holds a vertical rose, fresh and dry.

Olfactory profile

l'Homme À la rose opens green and sharp: grapefruit bites, and the Damascena rose appears first through its green facets and sap rather than its petals. This is far from a sweet rose, in an almost vegetal freshness.

The heart airs the flower with clary sage, aromatic and clear, while the Centifolia rose keeps a recognizable floral roundness. The rose is there, central, but held in a clean register, without sweetness.

The ambery woody base tips the whole toward the masculine: dry, warm, it anchors the rose and extends the longevity, better than in a fresh water. l'Homme À la rose is a daytime floral woody, wearable at the office and out, keeping its radiance from spring into the shoulder seasons.
