Quick answers
History
Naxos belongs to the 1861 collection from Xerjoff, created to mark the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. The house presents it as a tribute to Sicily and to the many civilisations that passed through the island.
Its product page talks of sunlight, Sicilian architecture and the blue water around the island. Xerjoff lists Naxos among the best sellers of the collection.
Xerjoff publishes neither a launch year nor a perfumer. Parfumo dates the scent to 2015. No house source or dated press article consulted for this entry confirms that year.
Chris Maurice is the name that circulates on community databases and retail listings. Neither Xerjoff nor a dated press source confirms the credit, so it stays unconfirmed here.
In December 2020, ÇaFleureBon editor Michelyn Camen called it an “Oriental spicy fragrance with surprising fougere-like elements”.
Fragrance notes
These are the notes Xerjoff publishes on its official page. The scent moves from citrus and lavender to honey and spice, then to tobacco and vanilla.
Many retail listings leave out the Omani incense, which the house places in the top notes.
Scent profile
Per the brand, Naxos “leads the nose in many olfactory directions, yet never loses its sense of identity”. Lavender and bergamot open, and spice tempers them almost at once.
Honey and vanilla then bring out the gourmand side. Cinnamon, tobacco and cashmere woods balance it and supply the warmth, in the house’s own account.
Xerjoff files it under aromatic and spicy. Osmetheca classes it as a soft amber, given its base of vanilla, tonka and honeyed tobacco.
“Its fresh, aromatic opening of lavender and bergamot is tempered by spicy nuances that blend seamlessly with softer and warmer facets.”Xerjoff, official Naxos page
