Quick answers
History
Atmosphere d'Emotion is Filippo Sorcinelli's weather collection: each perfume takes a state of the sky as its subject, from heavy rain to dense fog, from light breeze to raging wind. Pioggia Forte, "heavy rain," is its first piece.
The official text is a poem on the downpour: "two bodies united in the memory of a sudden shower," "it rains on the void and the cry becomes matter," and that closing image of lovers "united by the rain that mixes the smells to make them only one." Rain here is a drama and a fusion, more than a backdrop.
Sorcinelli states it as a harmonic evolution. The subject is a white and rosy floral: gardenia, rose. The counter-subject brings the water and the green: geranium, jasmine, cyclamen, a marine note. The tail sets it on a warm base: musks, benzoin, amber, precious woods, vegetal moss.
The result is a floral aquatic amber, where the flower, wet with a marine note, warms on a musky, resinous base. It is a perfume of warm rain and fusion, the gateway to a series the house then declines into every shade of the sky. An extrait de parfum version was later reissued.
Olfactory pyramid
Filippo Sorcinelli is an organist; he does not conceive his perfumes as a pyramid of volatility but as a score. Pioggia Forte is therefore stated in three movements, subject, counter-subject and tail, exactly as the house publishes them.
The through-line is warm rain: gardenia and rose set the flower, geranium and the marine note wet it, and the tail of musks, benzoin and amber warms it.
Olfactory profile
Pioggia Forte opens on a white and rosy floral: the fleshy gardenia and the rose compose a full entry, at once wetted by a green geranium and a marine note that bring their saline freshness.
The heart plays on water and flesh: jasmine adds its carnal share, cyclamen an aquatic transparency. This is the layer that gives the perfume its idea of a flower under the downpour, held between full bloom and rainwater.
The tail warms the wet flower: musks, benzoin and amber bring a soft, resinous base, vegetal moss a damp green, precious woods a footing. Longevity is that of an extrait, long and close to the skin; the sillage is enveloping and warm. A mid-season floral aquatic, to wear in changeable weather.
