Vanilla Aube closes Four Corners of the Earth Reimagined, the collection Ormonde Jayne launched on 8 March 2026. It reached the shelves under this name on 8 September 2026, a year after it was created.
The collection follows on from the Montabaco series, the winter editions the house had reserved for its best clients for five or six years. Linda Pilkington chose to end that run and committed to offering something else in its place.
Finding a way not to repeat herself proved harder. The method came from the radio one morning, listening to David Bowie describe the cut-up technique he had taken from William Burroughs: slicing up words, mixing them, writing from whatever chance produces. Pilkington built two boxes. One held titles of books and films and places that mattered to her, the other some thirty materials. She drew a name, then three ingredients, and composed around them.
For Vanilla Aube the three drawn were vanilla, pistachio and fig, the trio the house still leads with on its product page. Élodie Bernard built the rest of the formula around them.
It launched in September 2025 as Vanilla Mistral, after the cold wind whose gusts the vanilla was meant to ride. It was renamed a year later, the name having proved unavailable as a trademark in the United States.
Only the name changed. The house makes a point of renaming any perfume whose composition it alters, precisely so that a name can be relied on: here the formula was left alone.
Fragrance notes
The pyramid sets out the composition in layers. Vanilla Aube opens on pistachio and dry spice, turns through a heart of iris and fig, then settles into sandalwood, ambergris and vanilla.
The through-line is a dry vanilla that pepper and iris keep from turning sweet.
Scent profile
The scent profile of Vanilla Aube rests on an intention the house claims for it: warm, never sweet, and certainly not a dessert. Vanilla is indeed the central material, but it never arrives unaccompanied. Pistachio gives it a green, milky edge, cardamom and black pepper a dry spiced lift, pomegranate a brief tartness.
The distinctive signature comes from the heart. Iris brings a mineral powder that refuses sugar, fig a vegetal milk, and cashmeran a woody roundness that carries the composition into its base. Sandalwood and vetiver dry that base out; ambergris salts it. This is a vanilla of skin rather than of pastry.
