History
Arcadia is a floral fougère by Hiram Green, released in 2022. It draws on the natural splendor of Arcadia, an idyllic, unspoiled wilderness of streams, dense forests, insects and birds. Like the whole collection, it is composed from 100% natural materials and made by hand in Gouda, the Netherlands.
The perfume stages a lush undergrowth : where sunlight breaks through the canopy, fragrant flowers mingle with the fresh green of the foliage. From that image Green shapes a fougère, the classic family whose name comes from the French word for fern. No natural fern oil exists : the family evokes instead the green and moss of ferns, an accord built from other materials.
On skin, aromatic French lavender and Italian bergamot lead the top in a refreshing, green opening. Jasmine and rose then bring the floral shade of the heart, while tonka bean, aged patchouli and New Caledonian sandalwood, alongside resins, add depth to the base. A flowering, wild fougère, faithful to the house’s slow, natural pace, produced in small batches.
Olfactory pyramid
The house gives a palette of materials rather than a formal pyramid. The layering below follows the progression described in the press kit and on the official site, from the aromatic top to the woody, resinous base.
The movement runs from aromatic green to deep woods. Lavender and bergamot open fresh, jasmine and rose flower the heart, while powdery tonka bean, aged patchouli and creamy sandalwood close the composition on a velvety depth.
Olfactory profile
The olfactory profile of Arcadia is that of an aromatic, flowering fougère. The green, herbaceous lavender, opened by bergamot, gives it the classic fougère character, but the floral heart of jasmine and rose softens and shades it, like light filtering through undergrowth. The natural materials lend it a living, rounded, woody texture.
The distinctive signature lies in that deep base of powdery tonka bean, aged patchouli and New Caledonian sandalwood, which anchors the aromatic freshness in woody warmth. A contemporary, wild reading of a family as old as modern perfumery.
An aromatic fougère that evokes idyllic, unspoiled wilderness.
When and where to wear
Arcadia is a versatile fougère, fresh at the top and deep at the base. Its aromatic lavender makes it bright in the warm season, while its woody, powdery base lets it carry through the cooler months as well.
