Quick answers
History
For the first time, the House of Pierre Guillaume Paris offers two consecutive creations within a single theme. With Tonka Bodykon 31, the perfumer inaugurated the “Tonka” theme through a near-figurative approach, centred on the material. In response, L’Air & l’Eros sets out an abstract vision of that same bean.
The perfumer no longer relies on the central presence of tonka bean absolute, but on its traditional olfactory characteristics: balsamic warmth, almond and tobacco notes, coumarin. By keeping these usual resonances, he prolongs the illusion: like a filigree, the bean appears transparently throughout the fragrance.
The inspiration is an image: particles of tonka carried by a fresh current of air, like a light breeze charged with the scent of lilacs. L’Air & l’Eros is a balmy floral evoking the first warm spring breeze making bare skin quiver; this breath of lilac, with its balsamic and spicy facets, blossoms into the soft ambery warmth of a white cocoa extract.
Where Tonka Bodykon was material and liquor, L’Air & l’Eros is air and suggestion: two faces of one theme, one figurative, the other abstract.
Olfactory pyramid
L’Air & l’Eros unfolds in a single airy movement, from lilac to white cocoa.
The thread is transparency: the tonka bean suggested, never stated head-on.
Olfactory profile
L’Air & l’Eros is a balmy floral rather than a gourmand amber. Lilac gives it a fresh, almost spring-like floral attack; tonka appears only as a filigree, through its almond, tobacco and coumarin facets, and white cocoa lays down a soft warmth without sugar.
Its signature is abstraction: a skin scent, light and caressing, that suggests tonka more than it states it. It is a mid-season fragrance, airy and sensual, to wear close to the self.
