Story
Ormonde Man was launched in September 2004 by Ormonde Jayne, the independent British house founded in 2001 in London (United Kingdom) by Linda Pilkington. The house confirms it as its first fine fragrance built around oudh, the prized agarwood essence.
The composition is sophisticated despite its unconventional ingredients: complex and full of character, sultry and mystical. It exudes soft woody notes, but it is the infusion of oudh oil, the world's most prized essence since time immemorial, that sets it apart and elevates the scent to one of true distinction.
Juniper berry, bergamot, pink pepper, cardamom and coriander seeds open the structure. The heart pairs oudh with the house black hemlock accord, the same coniferous tsuga signature found in Ormonde Woman. Vetiver, cedar, sandalwood and musk close the composition. Ormonde Man is an Eau de Parfum at maximum strength in the 88 ml format.

Olfactive profile
The signature of Ormonde Man is the meeting of oudh and hemlock. The house was among the first to place oud at the center of a fine fragrance rather than use it as a trace material, and the result is a woody composition that reads dark, green and resinous at once. Its Perfume Profile is given as woody, chypre and green.
The opening is fresh and aromatic, with juniper and bergamot lifted by pink pepper and cardamom. The heart is where the perfume earns its character: oudh brings a sultry, mystical density while black hemlock keeps it green and cool. The drydown of vetiver, cedar, sandalwood and musk settles into a refined skin scent of real depth.

When and where to wear
Ormonde Man is at its best in autumn and winter and after dark, where the oudh and woods read warm and enveloping. The green hemlock facet keeps it wearable in milder weather too, but cool air flatters it most.
It suits evening events, dinners and confident professional settings rather than sport or high heat. Its strength and longevity mean restraint pays off: one or two sprays carry the composition through the day.
In Linda's words
The maison publishes a personal note from founder Linda Pilkington for Ormonde Man.
Travelling to Laos to seek out the Agar tree was a special experience. Having smelt Oudh as an attar, my curiosity got the better of me. Not only did I make it to the Agar forests far away but also to Nana in Bangkok to see the steam distillation of Oudh. It was perfume treasure as I knew no-one had used this extraordinary oil in a fine fragrance.Linda Pilkington, Ormonde Jayne
