Story
Ormonde Woman is the signature creation of Ormonde Jayne, the independent British perfume house founded in 2001 in London (United Kingdom) by Linda Pilkington. The house is owned by its founder and its perfumes are handmade in England.
The brief was to look for rare ingredients not widely used in the perfume industry. The house settled on black hemlock, a majestic fir tree native to North America, which it incorporated into its library and which now represents the house signature. Beginning and ending with the unique scent of black hemlock absolute, rarely used in such quality and quantity, the composition combines this hypnotic woody essence with violet and jasmine absolute to create a dusky, seductive perfume.
Black hemlock here refers to the coniferous tsuga absolute, a green woody material, not to the poisonous Conium plant of the same common name. Cardamom, coriander and grass oil open the structure, while vetiver, cedar, amber and sandalwood anchor the base. Ormonde Woman is presented as an Eau de Parfum at maximum strength in the 88 ml format.

Olfactive profile
The signature of Ormonde Woman rests on its abstraction. Rather than reproduce a single flower or wood, it composes an unconventional accord around black hemlock, a material the house treats as its emblem. The opening is green and aromatic, lifted by cardamom, coriander and grass oil, before the hemlock takes hold.
The heart is dusky and powdery: violet and jasmine absolute soften the conifer without taming it. The drydown settles on vetiver, cedar, amber and sandalwood, a warm woody base that gives the perfume its seductive, slightly mysterious character. The Perfume Profile published by the house reads woody, abstract and green, three words that capture the deliberately unconventional intent.

When and where to wear
Ormonde Woman suits cooler seasons and evening wear, where its green woody depth reads at its most hypnotic. The hemlock and woods carry beautifully in autumn and winter air, while the violet and jasmine keep it from feeling austere.
It works as a statement signature for cultural outings, dinners and quiet confident occasions rather than as a casual daytime fresh scent. One or two sprays are enough given its presence and tenacity.
In Linda's words
The maison publishes a personal note from founder Linda Pilkington for Ormonde Woman.
Ormonde Woman is recognised as a great masterpiece around the world. The inspiration was to look for rare ingredients not widely used in the perfume industry. Hemlock is a majestic fir tree native to North America. Used in potions for centuries, we decided to incorporate it into our library and it now proudly represents our house signature.
