Ormonde Woman is the signature creation of Ormonde Jayne, the independent British perfume house founded in 2001 in London (United Kingdom) by Linda Pilkington. The house is owned by its founder and its perfumes are handmade in England.
The brief was to look for rare ingredients not widely used in the perfume industry. The house settled on black hemlock, a majestic fir tree native to North America, which it incorporated into its library and which now represents the house signature. Centered on the unique scent of black hemlock absolute, rarely used in such quality and quantity, the composition combines this hypnotic woody essence with violet and jasmine absolute to create a dusky, seductive perfume.
Black hemlock here refers to the coniferous tsuga absolute, a green woody material, not to the poisonous Conium plant of the same common name. Cardamom, coriander and grass oil open the structure, while vetiver, cedar, amber and sandalwood anchor the base. Ormonde Woman is presented as an Eau de Parfum at maximum strength in the 88 ml format.
