Petit Matin

Petit Matin is the hour when Paris wakes: a freshness of lemon and litsea cubeba, a floral softness of hawthorn and lavandin, a tender musky base. Francis Kurkdjian imagines it as the first light of day, the light of a coffee on a terrace as the city stretches.

History

Petit Matin arrived in 2016 as the daytime counterpart to Grand Soir: two eaux de parfum conceived as a day-and-night olfactory wardrobe. Where Grand Soir sinks into the warmth of an amber night, Petit Matin catches the clarity of dawn.

Francis Kurkdjian describes the moment of rising at dawn in a Paris bathed in first light, coffee on a terrace, the energy of a day beginning. To render it, he lifts bergamot, lemon and litsea cubeba, a bright citrus with faintly verbena-like facets.

The heart softens that clarity: orange blossom, lavandin and hawthorn lay down a floral gentleness before a discreet musky base. The whole stays luminous and clean, a world away from the nocturnal amber of its evening twin.

Olfactory profile

Petit Matin opens fresh and bright: litsea cubeba and lemon give an almost green glow that bergamot rounds off. It is a luminous curtain-raiser, without citrus harshness.

The heart tips freshness toward softness: orange blossom and hawthorn lay a floral veil, and lavandin slips in a clean aromatic note. The scent gains tenderness without losing its clarity.

The musky base extends that softness more than it closes it: longevity is fair for a citrus, the sillage discreet and clean. A daytime freshness, easy, worn from morning to the office and into fair days.
