Story
Raising a glass in Italian means salute, to health. Salute !, released in 2019, per the press kit issued by the house, by Parfum d’Empire, is an olfactory toast to life: bright Corsican citrus, a vine-leaf and grape-marc accord, a powdery iris-and-musk drydown. The composition is by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, who founded the Paris niche house in 2003 and signs every fragrance the brand releases.
Salute celebrates the sun-soaked Corsican vineyards, their terroir and the spirit of a gathering of friends among the vines. It sits inside Corticchiato’s long-running narrative method: pick a story, find the natural materials that carry it, and build the perfume backbone before anything else gets fine-tuned.
Structurally, Salute opens on Corsican lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, lays over a heart of vine leaf, grape marc, then settles into a drydown of iris, oakmoss, powdery musks. The brand insists on sourcing its own naturals where it can, and has run an essential-oil production unit in Madagascar for years to back that claim.
The fragrance ships in the house’s familiar 50 ml and 100 ml flacons cast by Pochet du Courval and engraved with the laurel-crown signature.
Olfactory profile
Salute reads as a floral citrus in the Parfum d’Empire idiom: a single backbone accord built clean, with the natural materials doing the work rather than a packaging gimmick. Salute celebrates the sun-soaked Corsican vineyards, their terroir and the spirit of a gathering of friends among the vines.
The cult favorite quality here for US niche wearers is the way vine leaf, grape marc stays in focus instead of getting buried under the base. That holds true across the line, and it’s the reason Now Smell This and Persolaise keep recommending Parfum d’Empire as a gateway into serious narrative niche.
